... with awe and amazement that is. Tara Donovan's work makes me feel like i just shot 5 espresso's and smoked a 20pack of Marlboro Reds. So. Fucking. Good.
The majority of her installation work is the creation of form by repetition, through the use of everyday materials such as styrofoam cups, paper and scotch tape. Her works invoke images of naturally occurring terrains and topography. The neutral palette lends even further to the resemblance of landscapes.
Although the idea of taking many of one thing to make something else is not a new one, i can't help but be drawn further into drawing parallels between Donovan's work and Chemistry; the branch of science concerned with the properties and interactions of the substances of which matter is composed.
Or am i alone on that interpretation?
